Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) was developed in the 1970's by John Grinder, then Associate Professor of Linguistics at the University of California and Richard Bandler, a student of psychology.
Together they studied the work of three effective therapists: Virginia Satir, a well known family therapist; Milton H Erickson, a world renowned medical hypnotist and Fritz Perls, the originator of Gestalt Therapy.
John Grinder and Richard Bandler identified significant patterns from the work of these therapists and began to transfer the patterns to other people and other contexts.
As the studies developed further, applications began in other areas such as business, training, sales and
communication. Constantly growing and evolving, the tools of NLP are now found in all aspects of human endeavour.
